History of Mayne Block & Stone

Who are the Maynes?

My great-grandfather was one of a handful of people that founded the Gypsum area.  He came from Utah as a group of three sheepherders.  My dad Robert Mayne was born and raised in Gypsum, CO.  He was one of the original builders of the Vail ski resort who built the gondola.  After working for Vail Associates, he became an entrepreneur.  Throughout his career he owned a dairy business, and developed a mobile home park.  He finally retired in 1989.  He has been very active in the community and served on the town council for 23 years as well as the Holy Cross Electric board for 15 years.

One day out of the blue, I gave my dad the crazy idea of buying an old, run down block plant that was going through bankruptcy that was established in 1948.  My dad took a crazy chance and bought it.

So in 1990, my dad, mom and I became partners of Mayne Block.  In 2003, my dad decided to retire again, so my wife Krista and I became the sole owners of Mayne Block.  In 2005, we became distributors of  a stone veneer line and changed our name to Mayne Block & Stone.  In 2006, we became distributors of Borgert interlocking concrete paving stones.

We are proud of our company and the products that we make.  Through lots of hard work, we have turned our concrete block products into the highest ratings available. We feel very fortunate to be living in the Eagle Valley, where we have a long history.  We appreciate our customers and the friendships that we have developed along the way.  Our pride and joy is our 4 boys, who love machinery and blocks as much as I do.
